Mohsin Khan: The Chocolate Boy Of Indian Television

One such person is Mohsin Khan who has clearly become the heartthrob of the nation. Besides his show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Mohsin has given some stellar performances in shows such as Nisha Aur Uske Cousins, Dream Girl and Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya. Talking exclusively to The Celeb Lyf, he shares his life journey and struggle.

Beginnings

Born and brought up in Mumbai, Khan always wanted to be part of showbiz since childhood. He started watching movies and analysing the acting style of different artists. During his college days, Khan did some advertisements and cameos in a few shows.

At the age of 18, he made his first appearance on TV with an advertisement. And then, there was no looking back. He says, “Sometimes we make the process more complicated than we need to. We will never make a journey of a thousand miles by fretting about how long it will take or how hard it will be. We make the journey by taking each day step by step and then repeating it again and again until we reach our destination.”

Fear of Dogs

“Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage. Do the things from which you fear and do it again and again until you conquer it.”

This is the philosophy that Mohsin lives by. Not many know but Mohsin has had a fear of dogs from the age of 6-7 years. An incident where a dog chased him was what made him fear dogs. However, slowly, he has been able to conquer this fear. If one decides to do something great he/she can overcome it gracefully. Mohsin says that he always used to brace himself before shooting with a dog to make sure that his fear never shows on the screen.

As truly said that “Thinking will not overcome fear but action will…”

The Journey

The decision to achieve something in life always starts from inside, if your heart and mind work in the same direction, you can go places! Similarly, to make a career in acting, Mohsin decided to take it on as a challenge. The actor used to write poems, short stories and even made a few short films. He would then show these to his friends and peers and seek their opinions.

He continued putting in efforts and went on to become an assistant director. This helped Mohsin a lot. While being in that position he learned so much about shots and acting. When he saw himself on TV for the very first time, he felt that he can also do good as an actor and decided to continue this.

From there on, there was no looking back. He went on to being part of shows such as:
● Love By Chance, Meri Ashiqui Tum Se Hi, Nisha Aur Uske Cousins in 2014
● Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya, Dream Girl – Ek Ladki Deewani Si in 2015
● Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya (TV series) in 2016
● Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai (currently)

He has also won many awards including the Kalakar Award for Best Actor, Gold Award for Best Actor (Male) and many more. In 2019, Khan was chosen as one of the sexiest Asian men.

Inspiration

In everyone’s life, there are certain people who become their inspiration, to whom they look up to. In Khan’s life, his biggest inspiration is his Abba. The biggest secret of Mohsin’s success is his family’s love and support. They always supported him throughout, even in his hardest time too.

Professionally, he always looks up to people like Dilip Kumar sir and Raj Kapoor sir.

Dreams

Dreams are not big or small, it all depends on the path you choose to go. Likewise, Mohsin said, “I don’t have dreams. I set up goals for myself for both short and long term.” Right now, his biggest priority is his show “Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai.”

Mohsin has successfully completed 5 years working as a television actor.
