From Rejection To Perfection: The Journey Of Roshni Walia

Roshni Walia

The television industry in the previous decade saw a rise in the influx of fresh faces in the form of child actors. And these child actors have now transformed themselves into able leads that can carry the whole show on their own shoulders. Roshni Walia is one of those actors that started off in the industry as a child actor but now has transformed herself into a reliable lead.

Early Life and Beginnings

Roshni Walia was born in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh on 20 September 2001. She did her initial schooling from Bethany Convent School in Prayagraj. She was only 9 years old when she came to Mumbai on a family vacation and fell in love with the city of dreams. She recalls how she gave her first audition for a commercial just for fun and she got selected for the same. After settling in Mumbai she resumed her school from the Sion International School

The first-ever daily soap in which Roshni was cast was Mai Lakshmi Tere Angan Ki which aired on Life OK in the year of 2012, she was only 11 at that time. She portrayed the role of Jiyana. This was followed by a couple of cameo appearances on the hit Colors show Balika Vadhu where she portrayed young Ganga and on the Life OK mythological show Devon Ke Dev Mahadev where she played a young Sita. This was followed by a stint on the Life OK mini-series Ringa Ringa Roses. However, her most demanding and most popular role was yet to come. The role that catapulted Roshi into overnight fame was that of Maharani Ajabde on the Sony TV historical epic Bharat ka veer Putra – Maharana Pratap.

The Big Break

Roshni reminisces her time on the show and has fond memories with the cast and crew of the show. She claims that Maharana Pratap was the turning point in her career and that she learned a lot from during the show, and credits the show with bringing out the best in her as an actor. She was on the show for almost two years and has cherishable memories of the show, one of those being having great food on set like chicken tandoori.

Following her career-changing role, she played the role of young Survi on the first season of the Zee TV show Yeh Vada Raha in the year 2015. After four years in the year 2019, Sony TV which gave Roshni the role of Maharani Ajabde in 2014, gave her the lead role in the show Tara from Satara. She portrayed the free-spirited Tara who aspired to be a dancer much to the disapproval of her family. The show was about how she overcame the barriers and went on to win the “Dancer no. 1” competition. The show also featured a tie in an episode with the Megahit Kaun Banega Crorepati hosted by Amitabh Bachhan

“Are you satisfied with your work?”

Roshni Walia recalls her 10 years in the industry with much fondness and terms it as the best time of her life. She says that she has received unconditional support from her family and friends and how they never judged her and were supportive throughout. Roshni says that she is satisfied with how things have turned out in her life and that she has a sorted career and her topmost priority is being happy no matter what. She says that one should not get dejected after facing rejection and must work hard and not give up. She even recalls how initial rejections were heartbreaking for her but she did not give in. She also believes that luck has also played a vital role in her life in achieving what she has.
